Botlink Receives FAA Operations Over People Waiver to Fly Fargo Flood
Botlink, in conjunction with The Forum, flew the Fargo flood, highlighting the new downtown flood wall as it holds back 35’ of water, and capturing amazing footage of the river flowing through downtown.
Botlink was able to gain two-month FAA waivers to operate drones over people and in flight restricted areas with the help of ND DOT and Northern Plains UAS Test Site. This is the first time that the FAA has granted such waivers in North Dakota. During the waiver period, Botlink is able to fly UAVs along the Red River from Canada to Whapeton, ND, the James River in Jamestown, ND, and over the Missouri River in Bismarck, ND.
Botlink is one of a handful of companies nationwide working with Department of Transportation (USDOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to help create new rules that allow more complex low-altitude operations. Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Integration Pilot Program (IPP) is an opportunity for state, local, and tribal governments to partner with private sector entities to accelerate safe integration with unmanned aircraft systems.
