Botlink Capture Now Supports LAANC

Botlink Capture for Android allows drones to easily access controlled airspace

Fargo, ND, October 22, 2020: Botlink is excited to announce the launch of LAANC capabilities within its popular automated drone flight app. Botlink Capture is one of a few apps that allow customers to request and receive approval for LAANC operations and fly automated missions from a single application.

LAANC, which is short for Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability, is a collaboration between the drone industry and the FAA, with the goal being to further advance the integration of drones into the national airspace. LAANC gives both commercial and recreational pilots the ability to request and gain access to airspace that would normally be off-limits without direct permission from the local air-traffic controller.

Botlink Capture allows drone pilots to request LAANC authorization to fly in controlled airspace. Submitted requests are analyzed by Botlink Capture, and using multiple information sources, including continually updated maps from the FAA, the flight app informs the customer whether or not their flight request is likely to be approved. Requests are then submitted directly to the FAA from the app, and LAANC authorization is delivered to the user in a couple of seconds.

“We’ve really seen an uptick from our customers looking for easy ways to fly in controlled airspace, while also abiding by the regulations,” said Terri Zimmerman, Botlink CEO. “We expect the continued adoption of drones for commercial use, and maturation of commercial drone operations to rapidly increase the use of LAANC.”

The Botlink Capture flight app is designed to make flying drones easy. Commercial adoption of drones has dramatically increased in the past few years, which has created a lot of new drone pilots with little experience. Botlink Capture enables pilots with any level of experience to quickly get drones up in the air, automatically collecting data.

“We are always excited to see new pilots flying drones, whether it’s for commercial or recreational purposes,” continued Zimmerman. “The Botlink drone flight app is a great tool for just about any drone pilot who is looking to simplify their flight operations.”
