Botlink Participating in North Dakota’s Statewide UAS Network

Botlink is part of the technical group chosen to build ND Beyond Visual Line of Sight Network

Fargo, ND, December 30, 2020: Botlink is excited to announce its participation in the development of Vantis, North Dakota’s statewide beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) network. As part of the Thales team, Botlink is responsible for helping to tackle the myriad challenges that need to be overcome to develop the nation’s first statewide network for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

Vantis, which is overseen by Northern Plains UAS Test Site (NPUASTS) out of Grand Forks, ND, will bring together multiple stakeholders, including research, commercial, regulatory, and governmental, to develop a truly unique statewide network that allows for UAS BVLOS operations.

“Botlink couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this incredible project,” said Terri Zimmerman, Botlink CEO. “For years, the Botlink team has worked towards a world where BVLOS operations are commonplace, and Vantis is a great way to push the technology even further. We appreciate the opportunity to leverage our experience to advance the industry with such a respected group of partners”

BVLOS UAS operations are essential for the continued integration of drones into the national airspace system, and Vantis aims to answer outstanding operational and safety questions, as well as be a testing location for UAS technology companies from around the world. BVLOS operations are highly regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and North Dakota will now be an excellent location for multiple UAS market segments to further operational testing, including package delivery and long-range inspection.

“Botlink has worked with partners from around the world, using our technology and experience to enable BVLOS operations, which has been incredibly exciting, but it’s certainly nice to be working with such an incredible team, right here in our backyard,” added Terri Zimmerman. “This project is an excellent opportunity for the state of North Dakota to show the world what we can do, and at the same time, push the UAS industry further into the future.”
